John Mayer “Born And Raised” Review
May 22, 2012
John Mayer is back and ready to redeem himself. Mayer knows he’s talented. We can all agree on that. But what sets Born and Raised apart from John Mayer’s other works is that he’s finally humble to his talent. In this record, Mayer…
John visited Late Night with Jimmy Fallon last night, sitting in with the Roots, then sitting with Jimmy on the couch to talk about Born & Raised, Montana, and his new hat. The second half of the interview follows. Videos may not be available in all territories.
John didn’t take any bait but still managed to have a good time. Nice composure.

I moved from NJ to Bridgeport, CT the summer of ‘83 where we lived for one year. My daughter went to Bridgeport High School for most of that year when JM’s father was the principal, though I don’t remember him. Thinking back to that time, I wonder if I could have “passed him on the sidewalk” while I was out and about. JM turned 6 that year…that beautiful little boy who grew up to be a beautiful man.
I love the last few lines…
But the memories of selling out a club that holds 180 people for the first time, what that drive home was like, that’s mine. “Those were really special days for me. Playing Eddie’s Attic [a club in Atlanta] and selling a bunch of CDs and getting a handful of cash, those were really amazing days. Those were the big steps. The way up, that was a great time.”

‘I don’t know if you know this, but I’m not exactly the king of interviews. Taking a short break from that’.
‘Did I see Eclipse? I’d rather watch a Mitsubishi Eclipse than Twilight Eclipse.I I’d rather sit in a parking lot and watch a Mitsubishi Eclipse sit there than watch Twilight.’
‘I get it, you’re trying to reconcile the fact that you can’t help but love me, and I would at that point like to say; welcome to my family’
‘You can get through life with ‘Oh my God, yes!’ Just let everyone else talk.’
‘If I wanted to do a little pot smoking, I have a few extra brain cells I don’t mind killing, ‘cause it might make me that much more enjoyable to others’
‘On the other side of anxiety is a deep breath and a ray of sunshine on my face, so that’s what I hold on to’.
‘I don’t like vacation, I don’t like massage. And I need constant struggle. That’s what keeps me alive. That is my fuel.’
‘Esoteric, what does esoteric mean? It means that you can pull it and it comes right back to shape, and it’s heat retentive and waterproof.’
‘This was a nice maiden voyage, you guys are fun. Going to bed, thanks you guys. We’ll see you again. Love you too.’
John Mayer recently revealed why he dropped out of the Twitterverse last fall. The reason? He was a musician who couldn’t write any music.
“I realized about a year ago that I couldn’t have a complete thought anymore, and I was a tweetaholic,” Mayer admitted while advising students at a clinic at Berklee College of Music in Boston. “I had four million Twitter followers, and I was always writing on it. And I stopped using Twitter as an outlet and I started using Twitter as the instrument to riff on, and it started to make my mind smaller and smaller and smaller. And I couldn’t write a song.”
The singer/songwriter expanded more on his social media qualms, noting “good music is its own promotion.” Read them all on RollingStone.com.

I’ve been doing my best to educate everyone about the amazing music created and shared by Bob Reynolds. Now you have the opportunity to hear directly from the
man“saxophone powerhouse” himself.
