”If you think you gonna make it through without a scratch on you. If you think the last man standing does not have dirt on him… You’ve never been in a war.
(…) THIS IS THE STORY ABOUT HOW I LOST IT ALL.”
Awesome! Might be nice to contact the videographer about your work if you haven’t already.

Just reminiscing over how powerful this was even and especially after Assassin. Talk about contrast but it was exactly what I needed to hear that night. As for the rest of United Center save a couple of us including the person who shot this video, I can’t be so sure. Only after a few chords into the first verse did the place finally settle down. John handled the energy extremely well.

defying gravity…
In honor of The Black One seeing an audience once again, a much needed dose of the anthem. How this person acquired such a clear recording is a mystery but if any of you heard the rebroadcast on John’s birthday, you know it sounded outstanding. Now if only I Don’t Trust Myself would surface. Darn fans, we’re never satisfied.
Strong opinions inspired by a song makes it THAT much better. This version of Assassin was a first impression. Think about how watching the song performed live before listening to the album might be. Anyone considering that the intent may have been to be a little bit cheesy a la eighties ballads? Edge of Desire is in the same vein a long with Do You Know Me? I can see John listening to the final cut of the album though thinking, “I’m gonna rock this one ***Assassin*** hard!”
John’s Birthday led to a search for United Center videos. This vantage point at first didn’t seem worth viewing but the intensity of the crowd during Why Georgia was captured quite well. What a beautiful buzz, what a beautiful buzz!
Whose balls require licking to get a better recording of this?
Unfortunately there isn’t video with a clearer sound quality but you have to watch this version of Free Fallin for the little speech in the beginning. Notice where the hands go and pay attention to the eyes. While untucking the shirt he quickly realizes that embellishing the moment might be kind of fun. No, it wasn’t the fact that he showed some skin although that was a nice surprise but the way he moved his hands. Good Lord! Some of you probably heard the audio already but if not, here it is. In Indy John revealed that Chad requested this song many moons ago.
xstarlitex managed to capture some great photos and videos for both the winter and summer tour. This is Free Fallin from the United Center last year. Another fun moment was John’s intro to Steve’s drum solo. It’s not the best quality but is a reminder of the many ways he managed to drive a person crazy that evening. Boy got spunk.
Time for an introduction to those who are wondering who the hell runs this blog and why doesn’t this person follow back. Home base is a meta love story. When John encouraged us to try out this mode of communication, I had high hopes that he isn’t some hyper-narcissistic dude (he’s no such thing) who might appreciate learning what some of his fans are thinking about when our minds aren’t on him (rare I know). Balancing this with the drive to learn about his career as a musician, I chose to make a separate Tumblr to archive what might be some of his best moments. More analytical discourse regarding what he says or does is scattered throughout my home base.
Regarding following…what I’ve seen from many of the JM fam is a high frequency of posting on a day to day basis, much of which is John related. I love him as much as you all but also found Tumblr to be useful in tracking current events and a whole slew of topics that have been of interest for years but that aren’t a common thread with the people I interact with on a day to day basis. Sustainability, philosophy and history of religion, documentary films about these topics along with our current financial mess. Then there is the landscape photography. I love all of this and have precious little time to spend on Tumblr with a full time job so hopefully you can understand. What I would like to do is show everyone I follow on this blog so that you all can connect. We are a work in progress.
Some of you might know that this moment at the United Center a year ago including Stop This Train blended with of all songs, Homeward Bound changed everything.
