John Mayer, Austin City Limits full concert, 2007. Probably one of the most note perfect performances he’ll ever do. Such a treat to watch. And thanks to Mimi (@mimimph) for alerting me to this great, great show.
Yay! Tumblr at a PC once again.

John Mayer | The Heart of Life (Red Rocks, 07.)
Want to listen to a beautiful version of “The Heart of Life”? Of course you do. Especially now…
Yes, yes.
Day 29 - Your Favorite Song Right Now.
Stop This Train.
Today this is my favorite JM song. Ask me tomorrow or even 6 hours from now I’ll more than likely tell you something else. But right now, at this moment, it is my life.
So scared of getting older
I’m only good at being young
So I play the numbers game to find away to say that life has just begun
Had a talk with my old man
Said help me understand
He said turn 68, you’ll renegotiate
Don’t stop this train
Don’t for a minute change the place you’re in
Don’t think I couldn’t ever understand
I tried my hand
And, honestly we’ll never stop this train.
In honor of The Black One seeing an audience once again, a much needed dose of the anthem. How this person acquired such a clear recording is a mystery but if any of you heard the rebroadcast on John’s birthday, you know it sounded outstanding. Now if only I Don’t Trust Myself would surface. Darn fans, we’re never satisfied.
good love is on the way
John Mayer - Slow Dancing In A Burning Room (Live in Noblesville, June 30, 2007)
I love this acoustic version of “Slow Dancing” so much. I think it shows what this song is capable of. It’s perfect with a full band, but it also works incredibly well stripped down with a couple of acoustic guitars (and lovely harmonies courtesy of DRH.) I love when a song can take on different arrangements, and still sound big and luxurious, yet intimate and soulful. And this is downright soulful. It feels a little like he’s in your living room, frustrated, singing straight to you.
Plus, I adore how he incorporated lyrics from Ben Folds Five “Song for the Dumped”. It fits really well inside of the “Slow Dancing” bubble, and it sort of enhances the subject matter of the song, and the way he sings it is just great.
“Give me my money back, give me my money back you bitch, my dear we’re slow dancing in a burning room. Oh, you wanted to take a break. Slow it down some, and have some space, well fuck you too! Give me my money back, give me my money back, you bitch. Give me my money back, oh no. Give me my money back, you bitch. Oh yeah, right here. And don’t forget to give me back my black T-shirt, my dear, we’re slow dancing in a burning room’.
Follow up in the set was Stop This Train. Full show here.
Johnny - Gravity (XM Radio’s Artist Confidential. March 2, 2007.)
It’s the sleeping under the stars version of Gravity ♥
:)
‘When I’m up on stage, I love playing. I mean, every night before I get up there, I don’t know how I’ve done this for so long, ‘Cause every night before I go on stage I think to myself ‘This is the night where I’m just gonna flip out and walk’. And then I get on stage and it’s cool and…
One of the more playful versions of Your Body Is A Wonderland from Chicago in 2007. If you have time, the encore of this show is all acoustic including Something’s Missing AND Covered In Rain.
You guys, you guys, this version of 3x5 from Red Rock in 2007 is… well, go ahead and insert which ever exclamatory adjective you feel fits.
